Parçay Les Pins |
|
|
|
La Pannière is situated
on the outskirts of the village of
Parçay Les Pins. The village
of Parcay is within walking distance and here you can buy your
fresh bread, meats and local produce. There is a small general
store, a bar and small restaurant and also a museum to the
famous son of Parcay, the sculptor
Jules
Desbois. |

The Loire Valley |
| |
|
Here, in the Loire Valley,
the historic heart of rural France, there is
much to see and experience. |
|
The river Loire, sprinkled with fairytale
châteaux, wends its way through a broad, flat
valley fringed by low hills and a landscape of
market gardens, vineyards, and fields of
sunflowers and golden wheat. |
| Local specialities
include potted pork in rillettes or rillons.
fresh pike, perch and salmon. and dishes with
veal, lamb, mushrooms, asparagus or artichokes.
Try the goats’ milk cheeses and frimault cendré
– related to Camembert. |
|
 |
|
| |
|
The valley is famed for
light, fruity white and rosé wines – from the very dry (Quincy,
Muscadet and Sancerre) to the luscious Coteaux de Layon. Fine
reds are Bourgueil, Saumur-Champigny and Chinon |
|
This wonderfully flat
area is perfect for walking, or cycling – pack a picnic and
meander down country lanes or explore further a field and visit
the enchanting historic châteaux that have a tale to tell.
|
|
Take day trips to the
Vendée and Atlantic beaches. Fly in a hot air balloon over the
Loire châteaux or dine in style in local restaurants or treat
yourself to a gastronomic barge trip on the Cher. |
